Don't Do What Donny Don't Does.
I was at a party last night where I ran into a number of people from high school, including one person who admitted to having not liked me very much. And while we may not be best friends, and while he may very well still not like me, we could at least speak cordially to each other and have some pretty good conversations over the course of the evening. Whatever lame reasons we had for being antagonistic towards each other had vanished.
If I could give only one piece of advice to teenagers today, or one piece that they would actually listen to, it would be to not be so lame. Relax yourselves. Don't care so much about the lame things you care about. Because when I see teenagers I am struck by just how lame they are, how much they are slaves to any passing trend, any verbal tic, any top 40 shift, any rumour, hint of a rumour, whiff of a hint of a rumour. Listen up kids - the shit that goes on during high school matters less and less each passing year after graduation. Have fun, be nice to people, and don't piss on other people's parades.
High school Rememberance Day ceremonies should be outlawed. If you haven't had to sit through one recently, do yourself a favour and don't. The role-playing alone will make you homicidal.
