"You're like a man loving Jesus but says he can't stand the Jew..."- Bill Withers

What happens when Satan holds a charity?

"Nickleback Sign For Charity
The first annual Nickleback / International Children's Awareness Charity Auction is hoping to raise big money for a great cause. Bid on CDs, posters and other music memorabilia not just from Nickleback, but from bands like The Vines, Coldplay, The Doves and more. All proceeds will go to benefit the ICA, whose efforts are bringing Third World children the education they deserve."

There have been many bad cover songs over the course of recorded music, but a few stand out above the rest. Alanis Morrisette's version of Creep was particularly appalling. But the one that stands out in my mind as of late is The Matthew Good Bands version of Enjoy the Silence. The song would be bad enough without having to hear Mr. Good spitting into the microphone like a rabid zebra.

And now, some Matthew Good Poetry:

found me a reason
So check me tomorrow
We'll see if I'm leaking
Push and push and push till it hurts
My devil's on rollerskates
Down at the roller rink
Picking up chicks for me
Ones that push and push and push till it hurts
Push and push till it hurts

That was lovely.

I found myself involved in an argument recently where I lost track of what I was saying. I knew that I had a point but somewhere between my brain and my mouth the whole argument had become lost. The feeling I have to just punch people in the face hasn't left me. And it's always in the face, never in the arm or chest. Not even a playful shove. I'm talking full force into the nose, shattering cartilage and bone.

My god, the noise is unbearable!

I will work for the CBC. And I will volunteer doing something I will. I will. (Just not yet.)

And now, a further interlude from Mr. Good:

There's holes up in the sky
the devil punched down to the monkeys
and now they've got drive through
and a video store where there used to be real live actors
used to ride around here
up on my high horse
with all the other good little butcher boys
a pleinairist of course
so roll over sweet thing
like a nuclear reprisal inbound from outer space
there's a comparison here i'm trying to swing

Makes my heart sing just to read it.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while
Once you're in you're pretty much fucked
When I was the rat
The rat who would be king
I imagined typhoid and us alone
Always us alone
And I've waited on the sidelines all this time
And I've a grenade
With our names scratched on the side
But that's love
And you know that love's not enough.

Take care children or the bad man will get you.

Eminem's Home is for sale.

A few days ago I noticed some weird fuzzy stuff growing on my plants. At first I thought it was mold, but I soon realized it was... Spider Mites! Son of a bitch insects were attacking my plants. I hit them with dose after dose of insecticidal soap, and I plan to keep hitting them until they or the plants die. I owe my ficus and my silver queen that much.

All I want for Christmas is the cool stuff at Lomography. The Pop 9 takes nine images at the same time. The CyberSampler takes four images at different intervals; if you send the images to Lomo they will animate them into a short little clip. Damn these boys are cool.

I've decided I want to work for the CBC, specifically in the radio division. For some reason all of the brilliant writing and programming that is so prevalent in CBC radio is completely absent in CBC television. On radio you have As It Happens, Richardson's Roundup, The Early Edition....on T.V. you get the Red Green Show, Coal Harbour, Road to God Knows Where.

Three new songs will soon be making their way to hear me yodel. Keep your ears to the sky, people.
