Apparently my dream to work for CBC radio is of the pipe variety - due to cutbacks and budgetary shortfalls, CBC radio has been firing people left, right, and indeed, even centre. They hire people on a temporary basis, which is a little like giving someone a piece of cheesecake and then telling them they'll never eat it again. I'd like to think I can do whatever I want, but it's becoming increasingly obvious that this is simply not the case. The world has gotten smaller, and I don't know where I fit.

Last night at a party there were about fifteen teachers. Talking to them made me really depressed. I wanted to lie and say I was anything else - a copy writer, a GAP employee, a lawyer - but too many people knew the truth. All that conversation devoted to bad students, bad policies, bad call boards, bad principals, bad washrooms...by the end of the evening I wanted to rush out and apply to McDonald's. Except someone told me you have to memorize all these stupid acronyms, and who needs that kind of pressure?
