I have been accepted by both UVIC and UBC, with the choice leaning towards UBC at the moment. I can't describe the relief I feel when I think about not TOC'ing anymore. It is...ineffable.
A young woman recently fended off a would-be robber by using a long screw driver. This lead one enlightened Province reader to wonder why, when such things occur, do the police warn us not to attempt such actions. Where are the police when these things happen, he asked. Why shouldn't we arm ourselves and fight?
This is just a guess, but maybe it's because the police don't want to explain to your family how you got your dumb-ass killed over Cheetos and a couple of twenties in the till.
Why is Paris Hilton famous? And why do I have to keep looking at her face, and hearing about her views and preferences? 'Twere not for a quirk of fate Ms. Hilton would be standing at a street corner near you. It just happens that she is a billionaire.
Britney kissing Madonna is quite possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. It's like watching my aunt kiss the head cheerleader.
Recently the BC government fired the board of the BC College of Teachers and appointed a new one made up of twenty members, only two of whom are teachers. In a recent interview, one of the newly appointed members commented that the College does not belong to the teachers. When asked why the teachers should have to pay for something that does not represent them, he replied that since the College regulates teachers they should contribute to it. When asked why again, since the College is out of their hands and not even headed by people in the field, he replied that the College is not only for teachers, but rather representative of many different partners in education. Education, he reminded us, is not only one group of people.
Unfortunately for said learned member, the College of Teachers is...it represents ONLY teachers. The name might have been a tip-off. I cannot leave this profession fast enough.
